BATON ROUGE, La. – Three gymnasts represented Michigan State today at the 2014 NCAA Regional Championships at the Maravich Center on the campus of LSU. Junior Alina Cartwright and sophomore Lisa Burt placed fifth and seventh in the all-around, while freshman Elena Lagoski finished ninth on the floor exercise.

Cartwright led the Spartans, tying for fifth-place in the all-around competition with a score of 39.325. On the vault, she placed a meet-high 13th with a score of 9.825. She tied for 15th place overall with a score of 9.850 on both the floor exercise and balance beam. On bars, she tied her season-best score of 9.800 to finish in 16th overall.

Earning a seventh place overall finish in the all around was sophomore Lisa Burt. She posted her highest score of the meet on the balance beam, tying teammate Cartwright for 15th with a score of 9.850. Burt also tied Cartwright for 16th on the bars with a score of 9.800, while her score of 9.825 was good for 27th on the floor exercise. She also placed 32nd on vault, recording a 9.725.

In her first appearance at the regional meet, Lagoski earned a score of 9.875 to place ninth overall on the floor exercise.
