Gymnastics Welcomes No. 1 Oklahoma on Friday

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The No. 23 Michigan State gymnastics team (9-4, 3-3 Big Ten) will welcome No. 1 Oklahoma on Friday, Feb. 26, at 6 p.m. in Jenison Field House. The Spartans will honor their four graduating seniors - Nicole Curler, Emily Lopatofsky, Kelly Moffitt and Rochelle Robinson - at the conclusion of the meet.
"We are really excited for Oklahoma to come to East Lansing," said head coach Kathie Klages. "I believe this is the first time that we have had the No. 1 team here. The girls are continuing to work on details to work on their team scores."
The Spartans enter the weekend with a regional qualifying score (RQS) of 194.390. MSU ranks 11th in the nation on the beam (48.756) and tied for 18th on the vault (48.830). On the floor, the Green and White has an RQS of 48.650 (22nd) and a RQS of 48.480 (26th) on the bars.
Junior Kelsey Morley leads the team on the beam as she ranks tied for 17th with her 9.830 score. Senior Nicole Curler is also ranked 19th in the event with her 9.825 mark. Senior Rochelle Robinson leads the Spartans on the vault as she is tied for 25th (9.840) and tied for 32nd on the bars (9.810). Freshman Shanthi Teike is tops on the team on the floor this season with her 9.780 score. Curler also leads MSU in the all-around, ranking 27th with a score of 38.875.
OU enters the weekend with the best RQS in the nation of 196.615. On the floor and beam, Oklahoma enters the weekend as the top-ranked, recording scores of 49.185 and 49.140, respectively.. The Sooners also find themselves in a tie for third in the nation on the bars (49.145) and sixth on the vault (49.130).
Hollie Vise currently ranks first in the nation on beam (9.900) and second on the bars (9.895). On the floor, the Sooners are led by Jackie Flanery who is tied for fourth with a score of 9.890. Sarah Stone is the top vaulter for OU with her score of 9.845, tying her for 21st in the nation.
After two weekends off, the Spartans will return to action on March 12 when they travel to Fullerton, Calif. for a meet against Cal State Fullerton at 10 p.m. ET. MSU will then travel to Los Angeles, Calif. on Sunday, March 14, for a tri-meet with UCLA and the Cal State Fullerton slated to begin at 5 p.m. ET.
