EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State gymnastics team will hold its annual Green and White meet on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 1 p.m. at third floor practice arena in Jenison Field House. This event will be the first opportunity for the public to view the 2013 season routines.
Spartan gymnastics returns nine members from the 2012 season including Taira Neal who was honored as second team All-Big Ten last season. Neal was also nominated by her teammates to serve as captain this season. Other returners from the previous season are Gillian Carr, Alina Cartwright, Dani Levy, Kelsey Mazur, Ashley Noll, Alex Pace, Ashley Stevenson and Carson Tabiolo.
This season there will also be eight fresh faces on the MSU gymnastics roster. Jodi Andrews, Lisa Burt, Nicola Deans, Kate Filosi, Taylor Gantz, Brittany Holmes, Kelsey Thomas and Christine Wilson join the team as freshman for the 2013 season.
Levy will be captain of the green team while Neal will serve as captain of the white team.
The scrimmage will be free of charge. Food and other donations are encouraged for the family that MSU gymnastics has adopted during the holiday season.
Guest celebrities judging the event will include Harriett Dean, the president of the Gymnastics Booster Club, and a surprise representative from Auto-Owners Insurance. Michigan State gymnastics head coach Kathie Klages will also be judging the event.
The Green and White will head to Ann Arbor, Mich. for its final exhibition event facing Michigan on Friday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m.
