Gymnastics Heads to Ann Arbor for Exhibition

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The Michigan State gymnastics team will finish its exhibition season with a scrimmage against in-state rival Michigan on Friday, Dec. 7, in Ann Arbor. The meet will be at the Crisler Center at 7 p.m. and free of charge.
"The scrimmage at Michigan will give the coaching staff a good idea of where we are at and how far we have to go before our opener on January 12," said head coach Kathie Klages. "We are very excited to get this team out in public and see where the judges will rate each routine. We are looking forward to getting the 2013 season started."
Competing on uneven bars will be Brittany Holmes, Taira Neal, Kelsey Mazur, Alina Cartwright, Lisa Burt and Ashley Stevenson. Nicola Deans and Kate Filosi will exhibition on the uneven bars. Filosi, Ashley Noll, Burt, Deans, Cartwright and Neal will represent the Green and White on vault. Thomas will compete during an exhibition on vault. On the balance beam for Michigan State will be Holmes, Neal, Pace, Noll, Deans and Burt, with Cartwright and Stevenson competing as an exhibition. Challenging Michigan in floor exercise are Holmes, Pace, Noll, Cartwright, Burt and Deans. Filosi and Stevenson will compete as exhibition during the floor exercise event.
The Spartans will begin their regular-season on Saturday, Jan. 12 against Western Michigan in Jenison Field House at 4 p.m.
