Beyond the Beam
Dear Spartan Gymnastics Fans:
We have had two very close losses the last couple of meets. Against Illinois, we were very disappointed in the team's performance since we were at home and the meet score did not help us in our RQS at all. The RQS is the regional qualifying score, in which you take your top six meets with only three home meets allowed in the compilation, drop the high score and average the remaining scores. Since we had already scored 194 and above at home, the 193. 925 did not help us. In essence, it was a wasted effort. At West Virginia we managed to put together a good performance in which we did not count any falls. Though we lost to West Virginia by a little over .5, we were pleased with the team's energy and focus at the competition. This score did help us in the RQS tally. Presently, we have only had three away meets and are counting a 192.15 road score from Pittsburgh. We are anxious to get another good road score so that we can drop the 192.15 from the compilation.
We are at home this weekend in a big rivalry meet against the University of Michigan. The meet is on Saturday at 7 p.m. A couple of our boosters will be hosting a tailgate outside of Jenison Field House prior to the meet. The tailgate has a 3:30 p.m. start and will be moved to the Kellogg parking garage if it is raining. Come and celebrate MSU Gymnastics!
The journey continues and we hope to continue to improve our gymnastics with each remaining competition. Go Green!!
