Head coach Tom Saxton announced today that ten future Spartans have signed letters of intent to join the Michigan State women's soccer program in the fall of 2012.
"We are extremely excited to welcome our 2012 class to our Spartan Soccer Family. This group is both deep and very diverse and we have added great talent at every position on the field," said Saxton. "We are proud that we were able to sign outstanding players from across the country as well as continue to keep the best Michigan players - including two from the Lansing area - close to home. This group should go a long way to help us continue our tradition of excellence both in the classroom and on the field."
The ten players who will join the program are:
Midfielder, Phoenix, MD/ The John Carroll School
Earned a starting position on the high school squad all four years... Was a four-year semifinalist for her soccer team... Was elected as captain for her soccer team... Helped her team win the Maryland State Cup Championship... Played club soccer for the Baltimore Bays Chelsea 94 Girls Team... Earned the Most Improved Academic Award her junior and sophomore year... Was an honor student at The John Carroll School... Born September 16, 1994.
Head Coach Tom Saxton: "We are delighted to have Shelby join our team. She comes from a strong club team background in the state of Maryland, and she will add important depth to our midfield."
Defender, Novi, MI /Northville
Helped lead the Michigan Hawks to State Championship Titles all four years during high school... Was a member of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) State and Regional Team from 2008-2010... Advanced to the ODP National Team in 2009... A Michigan High School Scholar Athlete as a sophomore... Named to the Midwest Top 20 Players to Watch list... Included on the ESPNHS 2012 Girls' Defender Watch List as a senior ... Played club soccer for the Michigan Hawks.
Head Coach Tom Saxton: "Alex is a very experienced and talented attacking left back who can also play midfield. We love to attack from the wingback position and Alex should be a great weapon for us in the years ahead."
Forward, DeWitt, MI/DeWitt
Selected to the State Dream Team her sophomore and junior year... Named First Team All-State sophomore and junior year... Was an Honorable Mention All-State player her freshman year... Earned the All-League, All-District, All-Region her freshman, sophomore and junior years... Chosen by area coaches as the Lansing State Journal Girls Soccer Player of the Year... Was a three-year letter winner in basketball and earned letters in soccer all four years... Was elected captain of her soccer team her junior year... Remained a soccer captain and was selected as a basketball captain as a senior... Holds DeWitt's Season Scoring Record in Girl's Soccer... Led her team to the State Semifinals in 2010 and 2011... Played club soccer for TNT... Represented DeWitt High School at the Women in Sports Leadership Conference as a junior... Participated in the Business Professionals of America group.

Midfielder, Okemos, MI/Okemos
Named to the All-Area and All-League team her freshman, sophomore and junior years... Earned First Team All-State as a junior... Was a part of the Olympic Development Program's (ODP) State and Regional Pool as a freshman and sophomore... Played at the ODP Inter-regional Development Camp in Pomona, Calif., and Coral Springs, Fla. ... Earned the All-League Academic Award from her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons ... Play club soccer for the Michigan Hawks, Elite Clubs National Team... Won the Michigan Hawks State Cup Championship all four years.

Forward, Canton, MI/Canton
Helped her team win the League and District Championships as a sophomore... Also won the District Championship as a junior... Named to the All-District Team as a sophomore and junior... Selected to the All-League and All-Region teams as a junior... Earned Second Team All-State as a sophomore, and First Team All-State her junior year... As a senior, she was selected as a team captain... Played club soccer for the Michigan Hawks... Led her team as a captain since she played on the U14 team... Has won the State Cup Championship six times... Was the Michigan Hawks' MVP in 2010.
Head Coach Tom Saxton: "Ally is one of the top forwards in the country in her class, and we are very excited to have her join us. She should have an immediate impact on our offense with the potential to be a big-time goal scorer for us."
Goalkeeper, Chesterfield, VA/Matoaca
Selected to participated in the 2008 National Camp, 2009 Super Y National Camp and the 2011 Olympic Development Program (ODP) National Camp... Is a two-time Region I team member, five-time Region I pool member and a six-time Virginia ODP State team member... Named as the 2011 W-League FASA Impact Goalkeeper... Her Region I ODP team traveled to Costa Rica in 2009 and Russia in 2011.

Defender, Williamstown, MA/Williston Northampton School
Named First Team All-Area for soccer and track as a freshman... Elected as team captain for her soccer team as a senior... Voted MVP and All-Star of the soccer team as a senior... Named to the All-State team as a senior... Earned four letters in soccer and track... Played on the Massachusetts Olympic Development Program team all four years... Earned ODP Regional honors as a sophomore and junior... Named to the ECNL All-Event Team as a junior... Played club soccer for the FC Stars of Massachusetts.

Defender, Midland, MI/Dow
Played for the Michigan Olympic Development Program (ODP) team and won the Regional II ODP Championship as a freshman and sophomore... Named to the All-District, All-Region and All-State teams as a freshman and junior... Played club soccer for Vardar ENCL... Did not play high school soccer as a sophomore.

Earned First Team All-Conference, All-District and All-Region as a sophomore and junior... Named to the All-State Honored Mention Team as a junior... Helped lead her team to the Division I MHSAA Soccer Championship as a sophomore and junior... Her soccer team was named as an ESPN National Champion Division I High School... Was a High School All-American Scholar Athlete as a junior... Elected as captain for the soccer team as a senior... Earned Varsity letters all four years as a soccer player... Was an All-State Academic Award winner all four years... Played club soccer for Vardar as a freshman and sophomore... As a junior and senior she played club soccer for the U18 Michigan Hawks... Assisted her team to a State Cup Championship as a junior... Received Top 3 National Rankings as a senior for the Michigan Hawks.

Midfielder, Trabuco Canyon, CA/Tesoro
Elected as team captain for her high school soccer team... Played for the Cal South Olympic Development Program (ODP) team... Earned All-league awards as a freshman, sophomore and junior... Played club soccer for So Cal Blues... Twice she won the Region IV Championship... Was a Region IV semifinalist... Made it to the National Championship Series in 2011... Named as a two-time Surf Cup Champion.
Head Coach Tom Saxton: "Jessie is a special player who comes to Michigan State with an incredible background. Her club team, the SoCal Blues, is always among the best in the nation. Jessie can play anywhere but we expect for her to have an immediate impact in the midfield."
