Women's Soccer Announces Incoming 2018 Class

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's soccer head coach Tom Saxton announced Wednesday (Feb. 7) that 10 student-athletes have committed to play soccer for the Spartans this upcoming fall.

Ava Diggins (Far Hills, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's), Camryn Evans (Fenton, Mich./Powers Catholic), Mya Fregoli (Washington Township, Mich./Romeo), Abby Gardiner (Novi, Mich./Northville), Miranda Hart (Albuquerque, N.M./St. Pius X), Annabelle Honet (West Bloomfield, Mich./Groves), Lauren Kozal (Ada, Mich./Forest Hills Northern), Samantha Sklarski (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich./Grosse Pointe South), Giorgia Wahlberg (South Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) and Samantha White (Mckees Rocks, Pa./Montour) will all join MSU in the fall of 2018.

"We are very excited to welcome an outstanding 2018 class into our Spartan soccer family. The class features top players from Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New Mexico. Each of these student-athletes should excel both in the classroom and on the field. They are a great addition to our program."

Far Hills, N.J. | Gill St. Bernard's School
Position: Defender
Club Team: PDA (Players Development Academy) ECNL

Four-year letter winner in soccer at Gill St. Bernard's School ... Also earned three other varsity letters in lacrosse and track & field ... Captain of the soccer team her junior and senior year, and captained the lacrosse team in her sophomore year ... All-State Non-Public first team selection in her senior year and second team in her junior year ... Named first team All-Prep her senior year ... Four-time All-Conference selection and three-time All-Area honoree ... Named to the New Jersey Top 20 Defenders of 2017 list by the Star Ledger ... Led Gill St. Bernard's School to State Sectional Finals in four straight years as well as three Non Public Finals ... As a club player for PDA, led the team to the CASL Championship, Jefferson Cup Championship and represented at the PDA Showcase from 2014 to 2017 ... Named to the Headmaster's Honor Roll in four consecutive years.

Club Team: Michigan Hawks DA/ECNL

Played for the Michigan Hawks from 2015 to 2018 ... Helped the Hawks to the ECNL National Championship in 2014 and 2017 ... ECNL finalist in 2015 ... Also a member the Michigan Hawks Development Academy ... Named to the Olympic Development Program Regional Team from 2014 to 2017 and participated in the ODP National Camp in 2014 ... Also a three-year letter winner in track & field, earning two All-Region selections in the 400m and 4x400m relay ... Named to the honor roll in all four years ... Member of the National Honor Society.

Saxton on Evans...

Member of the Michigan Hawks (ECNL) since 2010 ... Led the Hawks to a national championship in 2014 and was a national finalist in 2015 ... led both the U14 and U16 team in assists ... Also a member the Michigan Hawks Development Academy... Participated in the Olympic Development Program state and regional pool for three years, and was a member of the ODP Regional team for two years ...
