East Lansing, Mich. - In the weeks leading up to the end of the spring semester, both the men's and women's soccer programs wrapped up their spring exhibition seasons. Both head coaches - Tom Saxton on the women's side, and men's mentor Damon Rensing - both found the spring seasons invaluable to the development of their 2013 teams that will report to campus in the fall.

Spring practices for fall sports are a time for growth and change. Only returning players participate, allowing for underclassmen to see some in new roles and develop both on-and off-field chemistry. With a limited schedule against outside competition, the teams had an opportunity to get time for players returning from injuries, and give a test run to some players in new positions or in expanded roles. Both coaches gained some valuable insights on their returning players, and are encouraged by the progress their teams made in the spring.
