Heyboer Named To EA Sports All-America Team

Women's soccer incoming freshman one of just 20 to receive the honor.

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's soccer freshman Laura Heyboer (Hudsonville) has been named to the 2008 EA Sports High School All-America Team. Heyboer is one of three incoming freshmen in the Big Ten to be selected.

Heyboer is the only player in state history to twice be named Michigan Miss Soccer and Gatorade Player of the Year. She recorded a state-record 290 points (167 goals, 123 assists) while leading Unity Christian High School to four-consecutive state championships.

Heyboer and the Spartans open the 2008 campaign Friday (Aug. 22) when they travel to Oakland University to take on the Grizzlies at 5:30 p.m.
