EAST LANSING, Mich. - The undefeated Michigan State women's soccer team will face Detroit on Tuesday (Sept. 15) at 4 p.m. at DeMartin Stadium. The Spartans, 4-0-1, are the only remaining unbeaten team in the conference and are one of 20 unbeaten teams nationally. In its last outing, MSU defeated Illinois State, 2-0, on Friday.

"Having Sunday off was probably a good spot to have a break, given that school is in full-go now," said MSU head coach Tom Saxton. "Hopefully, the players are refreshed from a rare Sunday off and are refreshed with three games coming up this week."

Defense, Flietstra Remain Strong: Friday's 2-0 win over Illinois State marked the third shutout of the season for sophomore goalkeeper Jill Flietstra who has surrendered just one goal this season in 463:28 of play. Her 0.19 goals-against average and 0.944 save percentage both lead the Big Ten.

The Spartans have allowed a conference-best one goal in 470:00 of play in 2009, which mirrors last season as they posted a shutout streak of 504:19 after giving up a goal in the first game of the season.

Spartans and Titans: MSU is 13-1-1 all-time against Detroit. Last season, the Spartans downed the Titans, 5-1.

Hill Stays on Pace: Senior forward Lauren Hill has at least one goal in all five games this season. Despite just one game last week, Hill's two goals in MSU's win over Illinois State were enough for her to take over the Big Ten lead in goals (seven) and points (16). Hill was named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 31 after registering seven points in the Spartans' first two wins of the year.

DeMartin Domination Continues: By defeating Illinois State on Friday, the Spartans extended their home unbeaten streak to 15 games - tying a school record. MSU went 9-0-2 at DeMartin Stadium last season and is 4-0 so far this season. The previous home-unbeaten streak record began Oct. 18, 1988, with a 1-0 win over Kalamazoo College and spanned 15 games (14-0-1) through the entire `89 campaign.

Up Next: The Spartans will hit the road to face a pair of MAC foes this weekend as they take on Kent State on Friday and Eastern Michigan on Sunday.
