EAST LANSING, Mich. - Men's soccer senior Doug DeMartin and women's soccer freshman Laura Heyboer are each one of 32 male and female candidates for the Soccer News Net Player of the Year awards in their respective sports.

The 32 candidates were selected by the editors of the six Soccer News Net network regional publications. Fans may vote once for each candidate from now until Dec. 15 by logging on to www.chicagolandsoccernews.com.

Online fan voting will account for 40% of the total while the balance will be cast by the editors of the six Soccer News Net websites.

This season, DeMartin was named Big Ten Player of the Year and currently ranks third in the nation in goals (17) and points (37). He helped lead the Spartans to both the Big Ten regular-season and tournament titles and a first-round NCAA Championship bye.
