Charles Fobbs will begin his first year at Michigan State as a volunteer assistant in 2009. He is the former head coach of Cass Technical High School in Detroit, recording an overall record 288-43. He also has nine years of club ball coaching experience, including two 18-under state championships and nationals appearances, both coming in 2007 and 2008.
Fobbs coached Cass Technical High School from 1991-2008. He led his team to five Detroit Public School League Championships, 12 District Titles, one Regional Championship, and an appearance in the state quarterfinals. In 2008, Fobbs was selected as the head coach of the annual state of Michigan All-Star Game. Fobbs was named District Coach of the Year five consecutive years from 2004-2008 and Regional Coach of the Year in 2007 and 2008. He has also been influential in 60 athletes receiving college scholarships to play softball (eight current Division I players, four Division II players).
He is the founder and CEO of the Detroit Cannon Youth Organization, which is a non-profit organization committed to filling the gaps for urban youth to develop into tomorrow's leaders. Fobbs is responsible for overseeing program implementation, coordinating the summer youth developmental league, and oversees the travel team development. The Detroit Cannon Youth Organization has been in existence since 1995.
Fobbs currently resides in East Lansing, Mich. He received a bachelor's of science in business technology from the University of New Mexico in 1989.
