Final Stats

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Michigan State softball team dropped to No. 3 Arizona State, 9-2, Friday evening.  Senior Jayme O'Bryant collected two RBIs and freshman Dani Goranson pitched her first complete game, striking out two batters.

After the Sun Devils gained two runs in the bottom of the second, the third inning went scoreless.  At the top of the fourth, senior Kylene Hopkins hit a single to left field to get on first base.  With two outs for Michigan State, O'Bryant hit a home run to tie up the score at 2-2.

Arizona State (9-0) came back and scored four runs in the third, and posted three final runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the final score 9-2. 

Hopkins was 2-for-4 in the competition and tallied four putouts in center field. 

On the mound, Goranson allowed nine runs, just three earned, off of six hits.

Picking up the win was Arizona State's Dallas Escobedo, who gave up two runs in her complete game.

Earlier in the day, the Spartans defeated UIC, 5-1.

MSU (2-4) will continue the Littlewood Classic Tournament as it faces UIC Saturday morning at 10:15 a.m. ET and Illinois State at 12:30 p.m. ET.
