SPARTAN SYNOPSIS

Michigan State staged a two-out rally in the top of the seventh inning - capped with a Kelcey Carrasco homer - to record a 5-4 victory over Central Connecticut on Saturday in Miami.

Carrasco hit a two-out, three-run home run in the top of the seventh to cap the dramatic come-from-behind victory. With two outs on the board, Ebonee Echols started the rally with a double to left center, her third hit of the day. Kaitlyn Eveland beat the throw to record an infield single, moving Echols to third. Carrasco launched a bomb into center field to give MSU the 5-4 lead.

It was the first lead of the game for MSU since the second inning, when freshman Caitie Ladd hit her first collegiate home run over the wall in left center. Ladd added a double in the seventh inning as well, going 2-for-4.

Central Connecticut scored four runs on four base hits in the bottom of the second inning, taking a 4-1 advantage. MSU chipped away at the lead with a single run in the third on a sac fly by Eveland, cutting the CCSU lead to 4-2.

Kristina Zalewski came on in relief of Jordan Watson in the bottom of the fifth, and threw three innings of two-hit ball. She struck out four and didn't allow a run to earn her second win of the weekend and improve to 2-3 on the season.

MSU (6-6) will play the nightcap against host FIU in a 6:30 contest to wrap up Saturday's action.
