Camp and Overnight Accommodations Information
EAST LANSING, Mich. - There is limited availability for the 2010 Michigan State softball camps on the campus of MSU this summer. Fans have the choice of five different styles of camps to meet their athletic needs. Please find a description of each camp below.
July 12: Junior Spartan Camp Ages 8-12
We have specifically designed this camp with the younger or beginning camper in mind. All positions will be covered, including pitching and catching. However we have modified our equipment, techniques, drills and games to make learning softball fun. We will have two sessions, with "lunch with the staff" in-between.
July 13: Pitching & Catching Camp Ages 10-18
This camp will cover all aspects of Pitching and Catching. Pitchers will cover everything from the fundamentals to the specific mechanics of throwing all pitches. Campers will leave with a complete understanding of the fundamentals as well as several drills to improve on their own. All aspects of catching will be covered. Catchers must bring their own equipment.
July 14: Elite Specialty Camp "Becoming a Spartan" Ages 14-18
This camp is designed for the player who has a serious interest in becoming a Spartan. The coaching staff at MSU will be working with you individually to evaluate your skills. All positions will be taught including Pitching & Catching, including Hitting. Why spend thousands of dollars traveling all over the country to be seen, when you will be guaranteed exposure during our camp?
July 15: Defense & Hitting Ages 10-18
July 19-21: All Positions- All Skills Camp Team Camp Ages 13-18
This camp is for the camper who is not a Junior Spartan, but who is not necessarily ready for the demands of the Elite Camp. All defensive positions will be covered and all aspects of Hitting. This camp is basically our general 3 day camp condensed into one day. We will cover all you need to know to becoming a dominate hitter, and fundamentally sound defensive player.
Teams do NOT need to consist of members of the same school, club or age group. The player can completely attend on her own, with her High School teammates, or club teammates. Players can play with teammates or play with players she does not know. The camp is limited to a first come basis and will be limited to the first: 20 Pitchers, 20 Catchers, 10 of each infield position and 30 Outfielders. Attending this camp is also a great way to ensure the MSU staff sees you play. The staff will assign players to teams for competitions. Lunch and Dinner will be provided. This camp will consist of 3 sessions each day.
