East Lansing, Mich. -- - Head coach Jacquie Joseph has announced that four players will be joining the Michigan State program when they enroll at the University in the fall of 2014. Outfielders Lea Forester (Portage, Mich.) and Sydney Heath (Troy, Mich.), outfielder/second baseman McKenzie Long (Alta Loma, Calif.) and pitcher Bridgette Rainey (Acworth, Ga.) have all committed to playing their collegiate softball in Green & White.

"I am very pleased with this class," noted Joseph, who is currently in her 21st season as the Spartan head coach. . "There is no doubt all four of these players will add significant depth to our team. I project that many of them will push for starting roles as freshmen. We are excited for them to be a part of the Michigan State program."


  • Lea Foerster
    OF, L/L Portage, Mich./Portage Central Club: Beverly City Bandits

    High School: Three-year letterwinner for coach Tom Hamilton in softball at Portage Central ... Earned all-state honors in 2013 ... Batted .404 with eight home runs and 44 RBI ... Selected to the All-Region and All-Conference teams in 2012 and 2013 ... Named to the All-District squad in 2011, 2012, and 2013 ... Earned All-Conference honorable mention in 2011 ... Lettered in basketball for four years ... Three-time team captain in basketball.

    Club: Competes for the Beverly Bandits Team Premier 18u ... Helped her squad to a seventh place finish at the TCS/Triple Crown Nationals in 2013 ... Led her team to a 13th place finish at PGF Nationals in 2013 ... Led the 16u team to a 16th place finish at the Boulder, CO Independence Day tournament in 2011 ... Helped the 16u team to a 14th place showing at the 2011 PGF Nationals.

    Personal: Born on November 10, 1995, to parents Brett and Amy ... Father played football for Saginaw Valley State University ... Older sister, Kayla, plays softball at Aquinas College ... Plans on majoring in Kinesiology or Veterinary Science.

    High School: Two-year letter winner in softball for coach Tom Calnon at Troy High School in Troy, Michigan ... Also lettered in basketball all four years and in track two seasons as an underclassman ... Voted team captain for softball her senior year ... Named first-team All-State, All-County, All-District, All-Region and All-Conference as a junior ... Helped team win the District Championship her junior year.

    Club: Plays for the Michigan Batbusters ... Competed in the MVP Fall Sparks Tournament in 2011 ... Earned 1st place in Torco Qualifier in 2011 ... Team named Compuware Champs in 2012 ... ASA States Champions in 2012 ... Earned 1st place in Wisconsin National Qualifier in 2012.

    Personal: Born September 20, 1995, to parents Michael and Rae ... Michael is an MSU graduate, while Rae competed in bowling for Ohio State ... Brother, Cameron, plays Junior A Hockey ... Plans on majoring in Kinesiology.

    High School: Attended Los Osos High School in Alta Loma, California where she was a four-year varsity starter in softball... Played under coach Mike Randal... Four-time Academic All American... Offensive MVP both her junior and sophomore seasons, along with being named First Team All-Valley... Defensive MVP and First Team All- League in her sophomore season in which she also led the league in runs scored.... Hit .576 and had the most runs scored, doubles and triples in the league her junior season... 59th ranked player in the nation per studentsport.com...

    Club: Plays for Minors Gold out of Lovelace, Calif.

    Personal: Born January, 10th 1996 to parents Don and Sue... Plans on majoring in Criminal Justice...

    High School: Three-year softball letterwinner for coach Matthew Jones at Harrison High School ... Selected to the 2013 Georgia All-State game ... Led her squad to a 2013 6-A State Runner-Up finish ... Finished the 2013 season with a 1.24 ERA and a .478 batting average ... Named to the All-Region Second Team in 2012 ... Led her team to The 6-A State Elite 8 in 2012 ... Voted team MVP in 2011 and 2012 ... Lettered in basketball for three years ... Named team MVP in 2012 ... Led her basketball team to a 6-A State Elite 8 finish in 2012.
