Women's Tennis Downs Vikings and Rockets
MSU blanked Cleveland State and Toledo, 7-0.

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State University women’s tennis team improved its record to 7-0 on Saturday after facing Cleveland State and Toledo. The Green and White blanked both opponents, 7-0.
“We have had quite a few doubleheaders in the last few weeks and they are not only challenging physically but also mentally,” said head coach Simone Jardim. “We have been able to learn so much about ourselves and have gained confidence from all of the matches.”

Leading Michigan State in doubles action on court one were freshman Emily Meyers and sophomore Julianne Gruber defeating Alex Bush and Maria Lazaris, 8-2. At the No. 3 spot, senior Michaela Silesova and junior Jennifer Yen tallied an 8-5 win versus Vikings' Nicole Janek and Megdi Liu.
In singles play, junior Marina Bohrer continued her winning streak dropping Alex Bush, 6-2, 6-0 at first singles. At the No. 2 spot, sophomore Catherine Parenteau pushed past Cleveland State’s Mathilde Orange 6-2, 6-1. Next up on court three was Olga Chernova as she tallied a 6-0, 6-1 win facing Lazaris. Meyers blanked the competition on court four, 6-0, 6-0. Gruber won the first set against Janek at the No. 5 spot, 6-3, before falling in the second, 3-6, to rally for a win in the third set, 10-5. Picking up the final win, 6-0, 6-2, was Silesova against Liu.

At the No. 1 spot for doubles, Bohrer and Parenteau edged MacKenzie Bowman and Emily Mazzola, 8-4. Senior Nicole Herzog and Silesova paired up for another 8-4 win on court two facing Lexy Pitt and Chrissy Coffman.
Bohrer recorded a victory as she defeated Pia Rygh on court one in singles matches, 6-3, 6-3. In a challenging match at the No. 2 spot, Parenteau tallied a win against Coffman, 7-5, 6-7(6), 11-9. Chernova pushed past her competition in two sets, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 3 spot, as Nicole Herzog did the same at No. 4, 6-4, 7-5. On court five, Meyers earned a 6-3, 6-0 Spartan win in her match against Toledo’s Bowman. Junior Katarina Lingl produced a win as she defeated Mazzola, 7-5, 6-2.
In their next competition, the Spartans will continue their homestand as they take on Louisville at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10.
