Women's Tennis Suffers Loss to Pepperdine

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Michigan State women's tennis team succumbed to Pepperdine at the second day of the Blue-Gray Tournament. The Waves defeated the Spartans, 4-0, Saturday morning. The Spartans now own a 10-5 record on the season. Freshman Emily Meyers and sophomore Julianne Gruber defeated Pepperdine at the No. 3 spot, 8-2, for the lone MSU victory. Pepperdine took the doubles point with wins at the first and second spots. The Waves outlasted the Spartans on courts two, three and four to pick up the win. The teams seized competition after Pepperdine took the fourth point for the win. The Spartans will compete in the final day of the Blue-Gray tournament tomorrow. Michigan State will face either Boise State or Marshall in the consolation round of the bracket.
