EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State women’s tennis finished up its competition at the Second Chance Tournament today and ITA Midwest Regional Championships yesterday. MSU picked up three championships in the final day of Second Chance.
“It was a tough weekend of tough competition,” said head coach Simone Jardim. “It was good to be there and compete with the best players from our region. The tournaments gave us a chance to see where we are and where we want to be.”
At the Second Chance Tournament, Michaela Silesova placed sixth in the Singles Alpha Draw after falling to Helen Rabot of UW, 6-4, 6-2. MSU competed for the championship in the Bravo, Charlie, and Delta Draws. Jennifer Yen placed second after suffering a loss to Kathleen Hawkins of WMU, 6-2, 6-1. Emily Meyers was champion of the Charlie Draw picking up a win in the matchup against Mary Malkin of Northern Illinois, 6-3, 6-3, and Nicole Herzog won the championship of the Delta Draw after defeating Marnie Perez of Cleveland State, 6-2, 6-1.
