EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's tennis team continues play this weekend with two home matches. The Spartans battle Eastern Michigan Friday at 6 p.m., and DePaul Saturday at 11 a.m.

In MSU's last weekend of competition Jan. 24-25, the Spartans won matches against Bowling Green and Toledo, both by scores of 6-1, bringing their record to 2-2 overall this season.

Eastern Michigan is 0-2 this season, dropping matches to No. 8 Northwestern (7-0) and DePaul (4-3). Last year, the Eagles defeated the Spartans in East Lansing, 5-2. Keri Thompson and Kate Thomas earned wins at No. 5 and 6 singles, respectively, for MSU's points.

DePaul is 4-4 this season entering a Friday match vs. Bowling Green prior to Saturday's contest vs. Michigan State. MSU defeated DePaul last year in East Lansing, 6-1. The Spartans took two of three doubles matches and the first five singles positions to earn the victory.

"Our matches this weekend will be very competitive," said head coach Tim Bauer. "We will really know where we are at after this weekend. Both Eastern Michigan and DePaul offer us challenges and will test our skill."

All matches will be held at the MSU indoor Tennis Facility and are free to the public.
