EAST LANSING, Mich.- Michigan State Women's Tennis Team Fell In The First Round Of The Big Ten Championship (Madison, Wis.) To The University Of Iowa, 4-0, On Thursday, April 30. Msu Ended Its Season With A Record Of 10-11 Overall (1-10. Big Ten), Improving Upon Last Year'S Record Of 4-16 (1-10 Big Ten).

Since The Teams That Won Earlier Today Are Required To Play Again On Friday, As Soon A Team Won Four Matches, The Rest Of The Matches Were Abandoned. In The Doubles Competition, The Msu Duo Of Junior Brooke West And Freshman Kelli Hayes Were Ahead Of Iowa'S Emily Bampton And Natayla Dawaf, 6-5, When The Match Was Abandoned After Iowa Took The Doubles Point By Winning The Other Two Matches.

West Was Also Leading Dawaf At The No. 1 Singles Position, 6-3, 2-3, When Her Match Was Abandoned. At The No. 5 Position, Sophomore Brooke Townsend Was Leading Iowa'S Megan Kearney, 6-3, 2-2, Before Being Forced To Abandon The Match. Hayes Defeated Iowa'S Erica Johnson, 6-2, In The First Game Before Abandoning The Match.
