EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's tennis senior Marina Bohrer was selected to the prequalifying singles bracket of the 2013 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships. The prestigious event begins on the UCLA campus on Sept. 28-29 with prequalifying, and continues with the qualifying and main draw brackets at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., on Sept. 30-Oct. 6.
"This is a great opportunity for Marina to compete against the best players in the country," said Spartan head coach Simone Jardim. "We are proud of her as she will be representing Michigan State at a well-known national tournament. It is a great honor for her final season."
Bohrer is the first Spartan to compete in the event during Jardim's tenure as head coach.
The Porto Alegre, Brazil native, held the No. 1 singles spot for the Spartans last season, going 18-13 overall and 14-11 in dual play, including two wins against ranked opponents. For her career, she is 52-35 in singles action.
Michigan State opens the 2013-14 season by hosting the Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational on Sept. 27-29.
