Metcalf and Nguyen Fall in Main Draw of ITA All-Americans
The duo will play in main draw consolation Friday.
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – The Michigan State women’s tennis team was represented by juniors Emily Metcalf and Davina Nguyen in the main draw of the Riviera/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championships on Thursday.
After foregoing the pre-qualifying and qualifying rounds due to their No. 14-ranking in the ITA Preseason Doubles Rankings, the duo earned their way to an automatic bid to the main draw of the tournament.
Metcalf and Nguyen fell to No. 17 Fernanda Contreras and Emily Smith of Vanderbilt, 8-4, in the opening round of the main draw.
The duo will play in the main draw consolation Friday at 9 a.m. (PDT) against Morgan Coppac and Elena Christofi of the University of Georgia.
