EAST LANSING, Mich. -
The Michigan State women's tennis team will play host to the Green & White Invitational on Oct. 26-27 at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility. Louisville, Eastern Michigan, and Western Michigan will be the other three teams joining the Spartans. Competition begins at 9 a.m. each day, and admission is free.
The Green & White Invitational will be the second tournament head coach Simone Jardim and her team has hosted this fall, as they previously held the Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Mich., Sept. 27-29. This weekend will also be the last team tournament on the fall schedule before the spring dual season begins Jan. 19, 2014.
MSU is expected to have 13 players see time on the court this weekend.
"We have an opportunity for everyone to play some matches against very good teams," Jardim said. "We are expecting to be very challenged throughout the weekend. We are going to have some doubles that we've been working on and still a lot of things to work on, but this is a good opportunity."
Jardim said she is proud of the effort the players have been putting into practice lately and the results will start to show soon.
"A lot of the kids expect that because they are working harder that the results are going to come like that and unfortunately it doesn't work that way," she said. "It takes time. I think that is really most important, is that we understand and come to terms with the fact that we are doing a great job working hard and this is going to pay off eventually, it's just we have to be a little bit more patient that it might not pay off right now, right now, right now."

Senior Marina Bohrer qualified for the singles main draw but she also lost in the second round. In doubles, the tandem of Bohrer and Trouillot, as well as the team of Meyers and junior Julianne Gruber lost in the second round of the doubles main draw.
MSU is also coming off a showing at the Spartan Invitational Sept. 27-29, in which two players compiled winning records over that weekend. Trouillot and fellow freshman Erin Faulkner finished 3-1. Chernova, Meyers, and freshman Emmy Virkus all finished the weekend 2-2.
