EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's tennis team hosts its second fall tournament of the season this weekend from Friday Nov. 4th to Sunday, Nov. 6th. The first round of singles and doubles will be played on Friday at 2 p.m. Play will being with two rounds of doubles and one round of singles at 9 a.m. on Saturday and will conclude on Sunday at 9 a.m. with one round of singles.
The Spartans welcome five schools this weekend to East Lansing, including Wisconsin, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan and Detroit-Mercy. Eight Spartans will be competing in the tournament.
Doubles Match Ups
In Draw A Doubles action, Junior Nicole Herzog and sophomore Katarina Lingl will challenge Strakhova and Halabi of Detroit-Mercy. Sophomore Valentina Rusakova and Michaela Silesova take on Toncheva and de'Lisle-Tarr of Eastern Michigan. The only Spartan duo competing in Draw B Doubles will be freshman Julianne Gruber and sophomore Olga Chernova. The pair faces Hebble and Rang of Ball State. Freshman Hilary Hager and sophomore Jennifer Yen will represent the Green and White in the Draw C Doubles, matching up against Eccleston and Johnson of Bowling Green.
In the Draw A Singles bracket, Chernova starts off play facing Mebuke of Eastern Michigan and Rusakova matches up against Chiricosta of Bowling Green. Herzog challenges Sanders of Ball State in Draw B Singles, while Lingl will face Rang of Ball State. In Draw C Singles Silesova and Reuland of Bowling Green play each other and Gruber will take on Bhatia of Eastern Michigan. Yen matches up against Boulieris of Ball State in Draw D Singles. And to round out play for the Spartans in Draw E Singles, Hager will pair up with Fernades of Detroit-Mercy play, while redshirt junior Dana Guentert receives a bye in the first round.
