Women's Track and Field Travels to South Bend for Meyo Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The women's track and field team travels to South Bend, Ind., for the Meyo Invitational this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 3-4, to compete in its third scored event of the season. The meet begins at 5 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m. on Saturday, at the Loftus Sports Center on the campus of Notre Dame, and will feature schools from the Big Ten, SEC and Big XII.
"Each week has been one step in preparation for Big Ten Championships, and this is our opportunity to run on a large track with a bigger field of competition," said head coach Angela Goodman. "Everyone has performed well and has improved. We hope to make more steps towards accomplishing team and individual goals this weekend."
At last weekend's Michigan Intercollegiates, sophomore Etienne Chaplin (Chicago, Ill.) captured the pentathlon crown with an NCAA Provisional score of 3,711 points. Freshman Meghan Strachota (Chesaning, Mich.) finished seventh in the pentathlon with 3,054 points.
Sophomore Emily Adama (Newaygo, Mich.) recorded a fourth-place finish in the mile run with a personal-best time of 5:02.85, while sophomore Kelly Higgins (Corunna, Mich.) ran the 5,000-meter race in 18:21.04, good for fifth place.
