Draymond Green named Alderton Male Athlete of the Year; Laura Heyboer and Caroline Powers named Alderton Female Co-Athletes of the Year.
The Big Ten Medal of Honor is presented to one male and one female student-athlete from the graduating class of each university who has "attained the greatest proficiency in athletics and scholastic work."
REDSHIRT JUNIOR (2010): Received MSU's Dr. James Feurig Service and Achievement Award for her dedication, honesty, academic achievement and perseverance during her undergraduate career ... AVCA All-Mideast Region honorable mention ... CoSIDA Academic All-District third team ... Big Ten Distinguished Scholar ... Academic All-Big Ten ... Team quad-captain ... First-team All-Big Ten honoree ... Selected as one of the Auto-Owners Insurance "Champions in the Classroom" ... Became the 17th Spartan to amass 1,000 kills when she recorded eight against Northwestern (11/26) ... Started in 29 of 30 matches she appeared in ... Named team MVP following the season after moving back into the middle blocker position ... Led the team in hitting percentage with a .340 clip, a mark which ranked 70th nationally and fifth in the conference at the end of the regular season ... Posted 234 kills overall to end the year with a 2.32 kills per set average ... Led the team in its upset win over No. 12 Southern California (8/28) in the opening of the match with her first double-double of the season (17 kills, 11 digs) ... Second double-double (14 kills, 11 digs) of the season came the following night in the final match of the 2009 MSU Showcase when MSU topped North Carolina (8/29) ... Recorded 13 kills and 12 digs for her third double-double in the win vs. Northwestern (10/3) ... A season-best 22 kills were posted in the opening match of the CSU Invitational vs. Syracuse (9/4) ... Tallied 13 kills in the upset win against No. 12 Illinois (10/2) ... SOPHOMORE (2008): Paced the Spartans with five 20-kill performances in her first 12 matches before medically redshirting for the rest of the season with a knee injury ... Posted 173 kills on 412 attacks while hitting .223 from the left side; despite only playing in 12 matches, her 173 kills still ranked her fourth on the team ... Averaged 3.93 kills per set which led the team and her .223 hitting percentage was good enough for fifth ... Had 20-kill efforts in each of the Spartans' first three matches of the season, earning her a spot on the Nike Sooner Legends Invite All-Tournament Team ... Posted a double-double in each of the first two matches of the season with 20 kills and 18 digs against Oklahoma (8/29) and 24 kills and 13 digs against No. 10 Cal Poly (8/29); her 24 kills were a season- and then career-high ... Also posted 20 kills in the final match of the Nike Sooner Legends Invite against Wichita State (8/30), giving her 64 kills and 37 digs in the three-match tournament ... Posted double-digit kill totals in 10 of her 12 matches ... Tallied 14 kills while hitting a season-best .667 in the Spartans' win over Connecticut (9/13) ... Followed that with back-to-back 20 kill performances against Oakland (9/16) and Central Michigan (9/20) ... Hit .333 in the Spartans' win over Oakland while collecting 20 kills ... FRESHMAN (2007): Had one of the best freshman seasons in Michigan State volleyball history ... Appeared in all 35 matches ... Third on the team with 296 kills (2.47 kills per game) and led the squad with 138 total blocks (nine solo, 129 assisted) ... Second on the team with a .279 hitting percentage ... Her kills rank her fifth all-time among MSU freshmen ... Second among Spartan newcomers in both total blocks and block assists (fourth in blocks per game) ... Her 129 block assists are also tied for seventh overall in a single-season ... Also averaged 0.88 digs per game (105 total) ... In Big Ten play, her kills per game average increased to 2.75 ... Was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 10, after setting a freshman blocks record with 11, all assisted, at Harvard (9/8); also had her first double-double, adding 11 kills, in addition to season-highs in digs (eight) and hitting percentage (.579) ...
