Spartans Spike Hoosiers
BLOOMINGTON, Ind.- Last weekend against Iowa and Minnesota, Michigan State Jenna Wrobel averaged 25 kills a game in the two Spartan victories. The effort was good for Co-BIG TEN Player of the Week honors. The junior continued her stellar play on Friday as the Spartans came from two games down to defeat Indiana in five, (13-15), (15-11), 15-10, 15-9, 15-12. The win improves MSU to 16-6, 6-3 in BIG TEN play. With this game slipping away, the Hoosiers fall to 16-7, 3-7 in the BIG TEN.
Wrobel hit .333 and had a match high 28 kills to go with 11 digs. Christie Landry and Veronica Morales each had 15 kills, and were the team leaders in digs with 25 and 19, respectively.
Indiana was led by Ryann Connors and Julie Flatley, who led the team with 21 and 20 kills. Setter Kristina Sanderson had 57 assists and 14 kills.
On Saturday, the Spartans travel to Penn State to face the No. 1-ranked Nittany Lions. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
