Spartans Advance to NCAA Second Round

LINCOLN, Neb. - Jenna Wrobel posted a match-high 16 kills and Veronica Morales added 15 to lead the Michigan State women's volleyball team to a three-game sweep of Butler University in NCAA tournament first round action on the campus of the University of Nebraska. Game scores were 15-5, 15-6 and 15-9.

Michigan State controlled play throughout the match, finishing with a team hitting percentage of .363. The Spartans also dominated play at the net, notching 10 blocks to just one for Butler.

Corie Richard led the way defensively for MSU, collecting 11 digs. Christie Landry and Jessica Sanborn also reached double figures in digs with 10 each. Landry also addded 42 assists from her setter position. Amy Pickett spearheaded the Butler attack with 13 kills.

Michigan State moves to 23-11 on the season and advances to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
