MSU Wins Kentucky Conference Challenge
LEXINGTON, Ky.-The Michigan State volleyball team finished the Kentucky Conference Challenge on Saturday evening with a decisive, 15-4, 15-9, 15-11 win over host Kentucky. The Spartans hit .360 as a team with 50 kills and nine team blocks.
Tournament MVP Jenna Wrobel had 15 kills on .300 hitting while all-tournament team members, senior Veronica Morales and freshman Sarah Gustin tallied 19 kills, 10 digs and two kills, two assists and a block, respectively.
Michigan State dispensed with the Butler Bulldogs, 15-10, 15-6, 15-7 in the morning match. Game one proved to be the most challenging for MSU with Butler knotting the score at four points and again at seven. Senior Corie Richard held serve for the final six points, including three aces to sew up the game for the Spartans.
Gustin was a major factor in the Spartan victory with 10 blocks and three kills. Wrobel finished with 15 kills, 10 blocks and five digs.
