Spartan Volleyball Team Drops Exhibition to Moscow
EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State volleyball team dropped a three games to one decision to the Moscow City Sports Association Tueday night, losing by scores of 15-6, 15-2, 7-15 and 17-15.
The Spartans played poorly in the first two games, hitting .250 and .029 respecitively in that span. However, MSU did play a very solid third game, hitting .324 as a team in taking the game by a 15-7 margin. In the fourth game, the Spartans battled hard against Moscow, losing by only two points despite just hitting .167 for the game. For the match, the Spartans hit .192 as a team.
Individually, three Spartans had double-digit kills, led by Jenna Wrobel's 15 kills. Jenny Whitehead turned in the best offensive performance for MSU, hitting .474 while recording 11 kills. She also led the team with nine block assists.
Moscow was led by Alevtina Cherepanova, who recorded 23 kills, while hitting .408.
MSU returns to action at the UC Santa Barbara/Judy Bellomo Classic this Friday and Saturday.
