April 26, 2010
EAST LANSING, Mich. - For the third-consecutive year, Michigan State head volleyball coach Cathy George will serve as an honorary chair of the EVE Golf Outing on May 13 at Timber Ridge Golf Course. Golfing will begin at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start. This season, George will also be joined as a co-chair by Sheri Jones of WLNS TV 6 News.
"I am very excited to once again be an honorary chair at the 2010 EVE Golf Outing," said George. "EVE provides emergency shelter, food, counseling, care and avocation to women and children who are victims of domestic abuse and are in crisis. The need to provide women and children with this support is even greater in the current economy. As a community member, if I can help EVE to continue to do this important service to those in need, than I am truly honored."
All proceeds from this event will help support EVE, Inc. in its work providing shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic abuse as well as counseling services for those individuals who have experienced domestic violence.
To golf, sponsor, or support this event call Nancy Bates at 517-372-5976 x 15, or e-mail Nancy at firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information on EVE or domestic violence, visit EVE online at www.eveinc.org.
For George, this is her second opportunity this spring to give back to the Lansing area community as she also served as an honorary chair of the First Annual United Way 5K Run/Walk on March 6.
Proceeds from the run/walk helped to benefit Capital Area United Way Unmet Emergency Needs Fund which is designed to be used as a last resort fund to help those who have exhausted all other avenues in search of assistance.
