MSU Volleyball Announces Additions to Staff

EAST LANSING, Mich.- Michigan State head coach Cathy George announced three additions to her staff today, Aug. 2, for the upcoming volleyball season. Krista Groce, Carli Weiler and Robby Smith will each join the Spartans in their respective roles for the 2012 season. Groce will serve as Volunteer Assistant Coach, Weiler as Student Assistant Coach and Smith as Director of Volleyball Operations. Below is a look at the accomplishments of each individual. Krista Groce- Volunteer Assistant Coach Previously, Groce was an assistant coach at Davenport University from 2010-12 and also was the head coach of the FaR Out Volleyball Club from 2009-12. She also was an assistant coach at East Kentwood High School, her alma mater, and was the head coach of Renaissance Cleveland 12's Regional Team. Carli Weiler- Student Assistant Coach During her senior season, she appeared in all 34 matches and was second on the team in digs with 268. She notched double-digit digs 12 times and had 10 digs in the 3-1 NCAA Tournament win over Arizona. Robby Smith- Director of Volleyball Operations
Before his current role, Smith was an intern in the ticket office in 2011-12 and served as the Michigan State Director of Softball Operations during the 2010-11 season. He was also a MSU basketball student manager from 2007-10 and during that span, the Spartans won two Big Ten Championships and competed in the Final Four twice. |
