EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State volleyball team has been tabbed to finish sixth in the 2010 Big Ten Preseason Poll, released by the conference office this afternoon. Additionally, junior outside hitter Kyndra Abron was selected to the 16-member Preseason All-Big Ten Team. The conference coaches chose three-time NCAA Champion Penn State atop the preseason poll in first. The Nittany Lions were followed by Illinois, Minnesota and Ohio State in positions second through fourth. Michigan occupied the fifth spot, while the Spartans rounded out the standings in sixth. Abron was selected for the first time in her career to the preseason team after earning First-Team All-Big Ten honors in 2009. Abron also earned AVCA Mideast Honorable Mention Honors in 2009. Abron ended the season with 267 kills, 71 total blocks and a team-best 11 solo blocks. Fans are able to get a glimpse of the upcoming season on Saturday, Aug. 21, when MSU will hold its annual preseason match against the MSU Alumni at 4 p.m. at Jenison Field House. The scrimmage is open and free to the public and concessions will be available for purchase. The Spartans open the regular season with the MSU Showcase on Friday, Aug. 27, against Bowling Green.
