EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State volleyball team has added another match to be played in the Breslin Center this fall. MSU will play its final home match of the season on Wednesday, Nov. 24, against Michigan. This will mark the third-straight season the Spartans will play the Wolverines in what is doled as "Bust Breslin". This match joins the Minnesota and Iowa matches already scheduled in the Breslin Center the opening weekend of Big Ten action.

Typically home to the storied MSU men's and women's basketball programs, the Breslin Center has allowed the volleyball team a unique opportunity to step outside of the confines of Jenison Field House for several matches over the past 15 years. Overall, the Green and White boast a record of 4-1 all-time in the Breslin Center.

The volleyball program played its first matches in the Breslin Center during the 1995 season when it hosted Indiana and Illinois Nov. 3-4. The Spartans made their debut in stellar fashion as they topped the Hoosiers, 3-1 (17-15, 15-7, 13-15, 15-12). MSU followed that performance up the next night with a 3-2 (15-10, 15-2, 7-15, 7-15, 15-13) victory over the Fighting Illini.

Michigan State once again returned to the Breslin Center for two matches during the 2008 season. The Green and White opened its record-breaking attendance weekend with a win over Ohio State on Sept. 26, 3-1 (25-22, 25-20, 23-25, 25-23). The Spartans continued their winning streak in Breslin the following night (Sept. 27) with a 3-1 (25-19, 15-25, 25-21, 25-15) victory over in-state rival Michigan.

Against Michigan in 2008, 5,335 fans packed into the Breslin Center setting a new MSU volleyball attendance record. Between the two nights, 9,017 fans filed their way into the Breslin Center.

Last season the Spartans once again hosted the Wolverines at Breslin. MSU, however, was unable to keep its Breslin Center winning streak alive as it fell 3-0 (33-31, 25-22, 26-24). The Green and White welcomed 4,309 fans for the match last season which was aired live on the Big Ten Network.

Fans are able to get a glimpse of the upcoming season on Saturday, Aug. 21, when MSU will hold its annual preseason match against the MSU Alumni at 4 p.m. at Jenison Field House. The scrimmage is open and free to the public and concessions will be available for purchase.

The Spartans open the regular season with the MSU Showcase on Friday, Aug. 27, against Bowling Green.
