Six Spartans Earn Academic All-Big Ten Honors
McLean, Swartz Boast Perfect 4.0 GPA's
East Lansing, Mich. -- - Six Spartan volleyball players were among the 125 Michigan State honorees as the Big Ten Conference announced Academic All-Big Ten honors for the 2017 fall sports season on Wednesday, December 7.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten consideration, student-athletes must earn a varsity letter, be in at least their second academic year at a Big Ten institution and carry a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Six Michigan State athletes were among the 18 in the Big Ten to have perfect 4.0 GPA’s. Of those six, two belonged to the volleyball team: sophomores Samantha McLean and Lauren Swartz. The other four Spartans to accomplish the feat are Men’s cross country’s Luke Beauchamp, women’s cross country’s Holly Bullough, Bailey Johnson, Emily Steffke.
