East Lansing, Mich. - - Spartan freshman Allyssah Fitterer (Barrie, Ont.) was MSU's selection to the NCAA Lexington Regional All-Tournament team, as announced on Saturday evening.
Against Penn State in the round of 16, Fitterer led all hitters with 18 kills and hit a monsterous .441 on 34 swings, career highs in both kills and attempts for the first-year player. Against the Nittany Lions in MSU's final match, Fitterer recorded three straight kills for the Spartans as MSU fought off match point, falling to the PSU in four sets.
In the three matches of her first career NCAA Tournament, Fitterer hit a combined .387, averaging 3.27 kills per set, along with 0.45 digs per set and 0.64 digs per set. In those three matches, she led the team in hitting percentage and ranked second on the team in kills, and points per set.
Overall on the season, Fitterer hit .278, (good for third on the team), and averaged 1.88 kills, was second on the team with 0.73 blocks per set, and averaged 2.42 points per set.
