MSU Cross Country Gets Ready for Great Lakes Regional
EAST LANSING, Mich. - This weekend the Michigan State men's and women's cross country teams prepare for the Great Lakes Regional Championships at The Indiana University Cross Country Course in Bloomington, Ind. The 30-team meet is scheduled for Saturday, November 15, at noon.
In last year's District meet, the men's team took fifth place and Kyle Baker led the way with his 25th placw finish in 31:44. This year's meet offers some tough competition as six teams are ranked among the top 15 in the nation. Included in the contention are third ranked Michigan and fifth ranked Wisconsin, both favored to win this week's Championship meet. MSU ranks eighth, topping ninth-ranked Notre Dame, Miami of Ohio (11th) and Eastern Michigan. On the women side last year, Stephanie Dueringer placed second in a time of 17:22 to lead the Spartans to an eighth-place finish. (181). Leah Nilsson took 32nd in 18:19 while Lara Esko placed 51st in 18:30.
