Andrew Craycraft joins the Michigan State cross country and track programs after an accomplished middle-distance career at St. Joseph's (PA) and North Carolina. Craycraft brings a creative approach to training, which has already allowed the women's cross country team to perform with higher levels of intensity. "Andrew has a very focused, pragmatic approach to training and racing that helps the women in our program come together and give their best on a daily basis," said Head Coach Rita Arndt-Molis. Pre-MSU 2003: In indoor - Won the 800M (1:52.49) at the ACC Championships...Best 800M time was 1:48.91 at the Iowa St, Last Chance, which set a Carolina men's indoor record in that event...Won the VT Last Chance (1:49.79) and Carolina Fast Times (1:50.07)...Part of the 1600M relay team at the ACC Championships that finished runner-up with a time of 3:16.55...Ran in the 400M once and won it at the UNC Indoor Madness with a time of 49.77...In outdoor - Won the NCCU/Duke Invitational (1:49.16) and the Georgia Tech meet (1:49.74) in the 800M...Placed third (1:50.95) in the 800M at the ACC Championships...Part of winning 4x800M relay team at the Penn Relays (7:28.82). 2002: Cross Country: Did not compete in any events for the Tar Heels. At St. Joseph's (2000-2002)...Earned two varsity letters in track and field for the Hawks...Competed in the 400, 500 and 800 meters...Six-time All-East performer and an IC4A Champion in the 500 m and 4 x 800 m...Became a six-time All-Atlantic selection...Ran the 400m in 47.80, 1:02.3 in the 500m and 1:48.8 in the 800m. Prep: Was a four-year letterwinner in track and field under head coach Matt Medve...Elected captain for three seasons in indoor track and four seasons for outdoor ... By the end of his senior season, he had earned six All-State honorees as well as six All-Conference selections...In indoor track, he was named to the All-New England team...Top times in high school were 49:09 (400m), 1:06 (500m) and 1:58 (800m)...Played four years of soccer as a midfield/forward and one year of basketball in his freshman season.
