The Michigan State men's and women's cross country teams will open the 2004 season this Friday (Sept. 3) at the Jeff Drenth Memorial hosted by Central Michigan in Mount Pleasant, Mich. at 5 p.m.

Ferris State and Lake Superior State will compete along with the Spartans and host Chippewas.

The Jeff Drenth Memorial will also serve as the debut for new head coaches Walt Drenth and Rita Arndt-Molis. Both teams will send partial squads for the meet.

After competing in the Jeff Drenth Memorial, Michigan State will be idle next week before hosting the annual Spartan Invitational at Forest Akers East Golf Course on Friday, Sept. 17 at 2 p.m.
