Game Two – Michigan State 3, Minnesota 2
Spartan Stats
Sophomore Faith Guidry (3-8) made her second start of the weekend in game two pitching her fifth complete game of the season. Guidry allowed one earned run (one unearned) on five hits while striking out four. Her four strikeouts matched a season high.
Senior Brooke Snyder led the team with a pair of RBIs in game two along with a double, while sophomore Macy Lee and junior Alexis Barroso each singled. Freshman Mandy Esman led the team with two hits in game two. Senior Anna Fox drove in the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the seventh.
How It Happened
Minnesota got the scoring going with a pair of runs in the top of the first. A lead-off home run by Kayla Chavez set the tone for the Golden Gophers, who later scored in the inning on a wild pitch.
Michigan State tied things up at 2-2 in the third after Esman singled and junior Alexis Barroso reached on an error. Snyder continued her strong day at the dish with a two-RBI double to right field to bring the score back to even.

Even though the Spartans moved Sunday's scheduled game to Saturday night due to projected rain, rain still found its way to Secchia Stadium anyhow stopping play for an hour mid-way through the sixth inning. A 1-2-3 bases loaded double play ended a big Golden Gopher opportunity in the top of the sixth to shift momentum towards the Spartans heading into the delay.

When play resumed, Guidry successfully navigated the top of the Minnesota batting order to provide a walk-off opportunity for the Spartans in the home half of the seventh.
Esman and Barroso each singled through the right side of the inside to open the frame, with Esman reaching third on Barroso's knock. Fox ended the game in MSU's favor after a Minnesota error allowed Esman to cross home.
Game One – Minnesota 5, Michigan State 0
Spartan Stats
Junior Ashley Miller (6-9) made the start in the circle for Michigan State in game one pitching a complete game effort, her seventh of the season. Miller struck out seven Golden Gopher batters in the outing, allowing five earned runs.
Five different Spartans had hits in game one, led by senior Brooke Snyder who doubled. Freshman Britain Beshears and seniors Kennedy Wyllie, Kendall Kates and Anna fox all singled.
How It Happened
Minnesota's runs came in bursts as the Golden Gophers scored two in the top of the first and three in the top of the fifth.
Four consecutive first inning base hits provided Minnesota with an early cushion before Miller retired the next three batters in a row. Miller allowed just one hit through the next three innings before Minnesota extended their lead in the fifth.
Three base hits and a walk for Minnesota in the fifth led to three runs scoring.
Sydney Strelow, Natalie DenHartog, Taylor Krapf and Maddy Ehlke had RBIs for the Golden Gophers.
